Chatty Maths!
Autumn Half Term 2024 Workshops
Booking required.
When: Thursday, October 31st and Friday, November 1st 2024, 9:30am to 12:30pm. Book one or book both.
Where: Stag Room, Woollard Centre, Buckhurst Hill, IG9 6AD (please note that access to the room is via stairs)
Who: Children in Years 3 to 6
What: Each session will include three of our Major Chats (adult-led activities), plus a selection of our Mini Chats in between.
The Major Chats we intend to run are as follows*:
Thursday:
*Estimation Bonanza – using metric weights and lengths, as a team, estimate the weight and lengths of some everyday objects.
*Pizza Trader – a team game based on fractions where points are awarded for making a whole pizza, even more points if the toppings are all the same!
*Halloween Quiz – not very spooky – but it does have maths!
Friday:
*Probability Racer – is there a mathematical reason why one car usually wins?
*Chart Detective – using the clues, determine what the graph represents.
*Tube Map Quiz – a variety of challenges based on the times it takes trains to travel between stations. Watch out for delays!
