Meet the Team

Grace Gelder

Grace has been working as a photographer and teaching photography for the last 10 years and is passionate about inspiring young people to explore the world through a camera lens. As well as running Young Photographers London, she works for Tate, V&A, The Photographers Gallery and Wellcome Collection as an educator.

Niaz Maleknia

I was born in Iran in 1969 and left at the outbreak of the Revolution in 1979-at a time when photographs in Iran were banned. I completed my schooling at the International school in London, and went on to study English Literature. I worked as a fashion buyer for a number of years, before deciding to go back to university to become a photographer. I am trained in Montessori and in Secondary English. I have taught in Scotland, Brazil, Holland and Italy. Making young photographers think about the images they are taking and to discuss and critic them is my aim.

SEND Practitioner

Philomena has over 12 years experience as a 1:1 tutor, and is a trained mentor and behaviour specialist. She has worked in a variety of secondary school settings and has extensive SEN experience. She adopts a pupil centred approach to supporting learning and has in-depth knowledge of adolescent development. In her most recent role Philomena ran the Student Support service in a SEND secondary school and delivered a school-wide programme of wellbeing and literacy interventions. She believes in the transformative power of education and advocates for kind and inclusive educational spaces.
