Parents and Tots is a fun movement session to build your little one’s confidence to crawl, move and dance in a safe environment.

Parents & Tots 0-4 | Yorkshire Dance

This year Yorkshire Dance’s annual youth dance festival, FRESH, is coming to Leeds on Saturday 18 April 2026.

Youth dance groups from every corner of Yorkshire, with members aged between 11 and 19, will perform live or show their screen dance.

You can expect high quality dance routines showcasing anything from contemporary to street dance (and everything in between).

During the day all youth groups performing come together at FRESH workshops to rehearse a group routine which they will perform on the night as a grand finale.

Parents and Tots is a fun movement session to build your little one’s confidence to crawl, move, toddle and dance in a safe environment. This session is for families with babies and young children aged 0-4 (older siblings and non-crawlers are very welcome).

In each class the dance tutors lead the group through playful movement activities using a variety of props, music and obstacles to stimulate the senses. Parents and Tots is a great place to meet other young families, share ideas, experiences and memories together.

Ballet 4-6 | Yorkshire Dance

A fun, high energy class which uses tapping, clapping and body percussion to create new dance routines to global rhythms.

We teach basic tap technique including shuffles and pick ups whilst exploring body percussion to global rhythms from samba to reggae to afrobeat. We use call and response, movement games and improv to build coordination, musicality, teamwork, listening skills and confidence.

Perfect for kids who love exploring sounds and making music. Noise is encouraged!

At the end of term, the group perform as part of an informal sharing for parents.

Creative Tap 4-8 | Yorkshire Dance

A creative class for ages 5 to 7 fusing Pop music with different dance styles to get your body moving! We use funky Street with a twist of other dance styles such as Jazz.

Creative Pop 5-7 | Yorkshire Dance

A fun and dynamic class combining breakdance and streetdance. Includes hip hop – old skool (popping, locking, waving) and nu skool (krump, house and more) – a high energy, positively focused way into the funkiest moves on the street.

At the end of term, each group perform as part of an informal sharing for parents.

Street Styles 8-11 | Yorkshire Dance

TEMPO are a performance group based at Yorkshire Dance, learning street dance and breakdance skills to take out onto the streets and stages of Yorkshire.

TEMPO members work across the term on a dance to perform as part of an informal sharing for parents as well as additional opportunities to perform at venues across Leeds and West Yorkshire. In 2025 TEMPO performed at Sadler’s Wells Making Moves platform at Northern School of Contemporary Dance and in 2024 they performed at Beeston Festival.
