Theatretrain offers professional training in the performing arts. Classes in dancing, acting and singing for children age 3 up to 18. We have an hour of dancing, acting and singing every week whilst working towards a production every other term. Our unique, step-by-step curriculum enables all young people to build a thorough understanding of the performing arts; developing technique, confidence, imagination, teamwork and individual expression along the way.
Music, Dance & Drama
Originally from Northern Ireland, Aideen studied Popular Music and Drama and Theatre Studies at The University of Chester graduating with a BA Honours degree. Aideen holds singing grades 6,7 and 8 in classical music. Having a passion for musical theatre Aideen has performed in many musicals such as Annie, The Sound of Music, Oliver and taken part in Chester’s Tip Top productions Jesus Christ Superstar and Beauty and the Beast. Aideen has been teaching singing at Theatretrain for 6 years and has been involved in many Theatretrain shows including the 02 Arena and The Royal Albert Hall.
Carl been singing acting and dancing from the age of 9 and has taken several exams in ballet and tap. He recently completed the BTEC in Performing Arts at Coleg Cambria. In 2013 Carl was a member of the National Youth Choir for Wales where he performed at The Royal Albert Hall on the opening night of the proms. He has been a member of NEWdance youth company and has performed with them for the last 4 years. In 2015 he became a member of The National Youth Dance Company of Wales, performing in two venues in Wales and a residency performing in Sadlers Wells.
Claire has been involved in performing arts since the age of 13 when she performed in her first Pantomime, Cinderella, as part of the chorus. She has performed on stage with Tip Top Productions for many years in larger musicals such as Annie, My Fair Lady and Hello, Dolly! Since having her own children she has taken more of a back stage role for Theatretrain helping with costume changes and making sure the children are side of stage ready for their debuts. She has also acted as relief desk manager for the last 2 years covering all 4 schools when needed. .
Clare is a vocal specialist, whom having completed her BA Hons music degree at Bretton Hall College, then studied her PGCE teaching qualification in Manchester and is currently the Head of Music in a large local secondary school. She is an active performer with local groups, and with over 30 years stage experience, she can include musical theatre, opera, panto, oratorio, solo song, farce and Shakespearean plays to her repertoire.
Jo has performed all over the UK as both a dancer and actor. She trained from an early age in Ballet, Jazz and Tap and later went on to study Dance and Musical Theatre performance at The Cumbria Institute of the Arts. From there, Jo went on tour with various companies before joining the entertainments team at Alvaston Hall for Warner Leisure. Here, she was a principal dancer and backing vocalist for an array of shows.
Kate is a professional actress who studied an MA in Music Theatre at the prestigious Central School of Speech Drama, London following a degree in Drama at Bretton Hall Drama School and a Degree in Music and Sociology from the University of Liverpool.After graduating with an MA Distinction the past two Christmas's saw Kate playing both Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk and Wendy in Peter Pan in Manchester for Pendle Productions. January 2012 then saw Kate make her professional Musical Theatre debut in the UK No1 tour of Girls Night opposite Eastenders’ Gillian Taylforth playing the role of Kate
Leah has been dancing since the age of 2 and later on took exams in ballet, modern and tap. She went on to train at Cartrefle College in performing arts and then onto Dance City in Newcastle. After her training, Leah danced professionally abroad for many years before coming back to her home town where she is now the General Manager of Simply Gym, Wrexham and the Dance Teacher for Theatretrain, Chester. Leah has been fortunate enough to perform at the O2 Arena with her son Sam who also attends Theatretrain.
Rob trained in Theatre and Dance at Salford University and after graduating he went onto work touring the country in pantomimes and working two summer seasons in Disneyland Paris dancing and performing in their daily shows and parades.
Steve took over Chester Theatretrain in April 2005 and over the next four years successfully opened the schools in Wrexham, a second Chester School on Fridays and then the Mold School.Steve's role is to oversee the artistic and teaching standards within the schools. He also regularly leads classes if teachers are off for any reason and also creates all of our productions by bringing together the various aspects of the show at the final stages of rehearsal.As well as leading workshops in primary schools in the area Steve also regularly acts and directs.
