The Signing Company makes communicating accessible to all from babies to adults. We believe that even with the most basic signing knowledge, everyone has the tools to communicate more effectively in everyday life. Moreover, when learning occurs in a fun and stimulating environment, then positive learning takes place.

My son and I both really enjoyed the classes, not just for the signing but also for the musical, sensory, fun and social aspects of the course. One day as I was buttering toast for breakfast I looked up to see my son silently but wildly gesturing for ‘more’. It was a really exciting moment for me, ranking alongside his first smile, first roll-over and first steps. My background is as a music teacher in primary and secondary state schools. I am a mum to 2 amazing children Jake, 9yrs and Summer, 6yrs. Being a signer, I was keen to do signing classes and so signing classes was a thing we did together. This made me realise the importance of signing with children and ignited my desire to become a signing teacher! My daughter Summer came along and through signing, our communication abilities were astonishing! I have been running baby and children's signing classes in Hitchin and Letchworth for 7 years. I have loved every minute of it. I am NVQ level 4 (now level 6) in BSL trained.
I am a mum 3, Lucian 6, Celo 3 and Savanah 18 months. I have been attending Becky’s signing classes for 6 years and have loved experiencing the positive effect they’ve had on us as a family. Not only do we look forward to the classes but also they give us a fun way to communicate at home, signing to our favourite songs and stories. I believe signing along with speech has widened our children’s vocabulary and helped limit frustration and tantrums by giving them the tools to communicate and express themselves clearly.
I’m Clare Banham, am married and have twin boys, Harry and Sebastian. I started signing in September 2014 taking the boys to Baby Signing classes when they were five months old. Having never done signing before, I have enjoyed learning a new skill and language while helping our children communicate their needs long before they could talk. I remember when Sebastian was only eight months old, he was laying down and suddenly popped his head up and signed “Milk” it was fantastic to see him signing without the tears and frustration of not being able to tell us he was thirsty.
I am Jules. I am Mummy to two amazing girlies, Holly (7) and Lois (5). I have always been interested in signing. I find it fascinating that people who are not able to verbally communicate or hear spoken language can communicate using their hands. I have been a classroom teacher for 12 years now and although I thoroughly enjoy it. I love working with babies and young children. Seeing them making progress in something that I have taught them is incredibly rewarding. I will also have the time and opportunities to still be there for my own family which is my main priority.
I have 2 sons, and I have been signing with them both since the day they were born! My background is teaching English for speakers of other languages and I started learning British Sign Language (BSL) alongside this. I completed my Level three in March 2014. I still find it amazing to watch babies using it to communicate, long before they can talk. With my knowledge of BSL and background in teaching, becoming a Baby Signing teacher seemed a great way to combine the two and do something I really enjoy. I’m Monique Blackham. I'm a mum of two, a girl Peta and a boy Logan. I studied BSL (British Sign Language) in 2010. I loved the Signing Babies classes when attending with my children. My daughter and son were also fascinated with BSL at 4 months of age! I have used BSL in a variety of environments such as schools, my own and others homes, shops and work places. Both of my children communicate so well using a mix of BSL and verbal communication. Hi there, I am Sally, Mum to two crazy boys, Arthur (8) and Ellery (5). I first started signing 7 years ago when Arthur was about 6 months old and fell in love with the signs and songs! My youngest, Ellery has Down Syndrome so already being able to do some signs when he was born was great. At age 5 his speech is still developing so being able to sign with him has been fantastic and signing has become very much part of our everyday family life.
