There’s a spine-chilling feeling in the air… the war is over, the airfield is abandoned, but there are still memories to explore, and tales to be told.  

In this immersive storytelling session, become a part of the journey to uncover how this area turned from eerie fields to a vibrant Museum. 

This event is held aboard the spookily decorated VC-10 aircraft. Please see below for accessibility details

Sessions: 31 October and 1 November

10:45am, 11:45am and 1:00pm for little ghouls! Recommended age: 5 – 7.

2:00pm, 3:15pm for bigger ghouls! Recommended age: 7 – 11. 

Tickets are £5.00 per child. Adults will not require their own ticket but must remain with their child at all times.

Spooky Storytelling

Our Little Swifts sessions are FREE!

Come and join our fun and lively sessions for pre-school children (aged 2-5 years) which include arts and crafts, games, stories and songs. Each session is linked to our amazing collection and helps bring our Museum to life.

Join our early-years practitioners on the second Tuesday and last Thursday of each month for a fun-packed hour of songs, movement, stories, craft and messy play (term-time only).

Time: 10.30 – 11.30 am

Cost: Sessions are free. To help keep our sessions free, please consider making a donation when booking if you are able. Please note that tickets are per child, accompanying adults do not need a ticket.

Little Swifts

Get ready for a week packed with space exploration, action-packed missions and family fun. From stepping inside a giant planetarium to battling it out in laser tag and helping Percy & Mr Fox solve a museum mystery, there’s something for every young explorer.

Percy & Mr Fox: Attack of the Clones! (3+)
Percy and Mr Fox have accidentally created hundreds of mischievous clones hiding throughout Hangars 3, 4 and 5. Can you help find them all?

Search the Museum, count every clone you discover and report back to mission control. The sharpest clone hunters will win a cuddly Percy or Mr Fox to take home!

Sessions at 10.30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, 2:30pm & 3.30pm every day between October 24 to November 1 2026.

Tickets are £5.00 (adults will NOT require their own ticket but MUST remain with their children at all times).

Space Odyssey Planetarium (6+)
Travel beyond Earth without leaving the Museum. Step inside our immersive mobile planetarium and explore the wonders of the universe during a spectacular 45-minute space show.

Sessions at 10.30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, 2:30pm & 3.30pm every day between October 24 to 27 2026.

Tickets are £6.50 (adults WILL require their own ticket and MUST remain with their children at all times).

Laser Tag (7+)
Duck behind inflatable obstacles, dodge incoming lasers and compete for the highest score in this fast-paced laser tag adventure.

Sessions at 11.00am, 12:00pm, 1:00pm & 2:00pm every day between October 29 to November 1 2026.

Tickets are £6.50 (adults will NOT require their own ticket but MUST remain with their children at all times).

Jet and Space Week at the RAF Museum London

Lego Balloon Jets

Zoom into creativity – our Lego Balloon Jets are back! Complete our Lego designs, and then attach a balloon to see how fast it travels!

These are free drop-in sessions, but adults must stay with their children.

This is a volunteer-led activity running 10:30-12:30 and 1:30pm-3:30pm on 26, 28, and 30 October.

Suitable for all ages.

Borrow the Moon

A rare opportunity to get up close with a piece of real moon rock, collected on an Apollo Mission, as well as handling many other exciting meteorite rocks!

It’s free to join in, but adults must stay with their children.

11:00am-11:45am and 2:30pm-3:15pm between 26 – 29 October.

Limited availability, booking encouraged. Both adults and children must book.

The cosmic return of the Planetarium!

Transport yourself out of the atmosphere without leaving the Museum!

Shows at 10:30am, 11:30am, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm everyday between 28 – 30 October. 

Tickets are £6.50 (child and adult tickets required). Booking highly encouraged to guarantee a space.

The Royal Air Force Museum

The Royal Air Force Museum is located at two sites in the U.K.

One in Colindale, north London on the site of the former RAF Hendon and one in Shropshire, next door to RAF Cosford. 

Our purpose is to share the story of the Royal Air Force, past, present and future – using the stories of its people and our collections in order to engage, inspire and encourage learning.

We are open daily from 10.00am and admission to our sites is free of charge. At each site you will find a world-beating collection of aircraft from the earliest days of aviation, right up to the modern day, plus amazing interactives that educate children through play.
