Description

Discover the fascinating rural tradition of Well Dressing in this creative children’s workshop inspired by the ancient custom of decorating wells and water sources with beautiful natural artworks. Young participants will explore the history and symbolism behind this unique ritual before designing and creating their own nature-inspired mosaic using petals, leaves, seeds, flowers, and other natural materials. We will also create a portrait of the ‘Green Man’ one of Englands most ancient and enduring figures. Often depicted as a human face woven from lush, green foliage, we will be painting ours onto canvas. Through hands-on making, children will experiment with pattern, colour, texture, and composition while learning about seasonal celebrations, community traditions, and the importance of water in our lives. This calming and imaginative workshop encourages creativity, observation, and a deeper connection with the natural world.
