Meet the Team

Catherine Muckle
Dance Teacher

Catherine graduated from Newcastle College Performing Arts Diploma in 2010 and then Contemporary Dance at The Northern School Of Contemporary Dance, graduating with a First Class Honours and the 2013 Outstanding Performers Award. Catherine has worked as a dance and circus artist with a diverse range of companies and artists. After finishing two national tours in 2018, Catherine worked as a movement director for PRICKS and is now based in Newcastle currently working for dance theatre company Kelly Abbott Dance Theatre.

Jen Normandale
Early Stages Teacher

Jen is a seasoned live lead vocalist and recording artist. Performing with her first live band when she was just 14yrs-old, Jen has since toured the UK, starred in musical productions onboard luxury cruise liner companies. She performs daily as a soloist or with her own rock group, in venues across the north east, boasting crowds of up to 5000+. Jen has also been working with young children within Primary schools for the past 2 years; helping to encourage individual talent, and developing vital social & communication skills, through light-hearted drama, singing and improvisation classes.

Kirsty Forster
Singing Teacher

Kirsty has Grade 8 in Vocals and a BA(Hons) degree in Contemporary and Popular Music from Newcastle University. Kirsty fronts a professional function band, performing in prestigious venues around the country for almost 7 years. Singing for a wide range of different events and occasions, has allowed Kirsty to experience performing many different genres; from pop, rock, soul and theatre, to swing and jazz. In addition to this, Kirsty has also recorded twice at the world famous Abbey Road Studios, London and performed in famous venues such as The Cavern Club, Liverpool and The Caves, Edinburgh.

Lucy Curry
Early Stages Teacher

Lucy has always performed from a young age. She then went on to do full time, professional training at Sage Academy of Performing Arts where she trained in dance, acting and singing. After graduating she landed a job in a touring play '84' and then went straight into a contract with touring T.I.E company 'Gibber'. Her recent credits include: Polly in 'Preservation' at Live Theatre, Sketch performer in 'Sunday for Sammy' at City Hall, Re-construction actor for BBC's 'Inside Out', Lead female in 'Stand By Me' UK tour, Laurie-May in 'In Stitches' at Live Theatre.

Mark Thompson
Singing Teacher/Musical Director

Mark works as musical director or rehearsal pianist for many North East musical theatre societies and in the orchestra for their shows, and works as vocal coach, accompanist or MD for many North East stage schools, and for musical theatre colleges in both Blackpool and Leeds.

Melanie Hill

Melanie has a passion for ensuring that every child has the best possible education in theatre arts to help them build vital life skills for their future. Her experience over the past 23 years combines performance, marketing and producing. As a producer, Melanie has staged productions in London’s off-West End and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Melanie has also produced shows and cabarets with actors including Paul Nicholas, Frances Ruffelle, Carmen Cusack, and productions of ‘A…My Name Is Alice’, ‘Just So’ and ‘Have A Nice Life’, and is a professional voiceover artist.

Rachel Morris
Dance Teacher/Choreographer

Rachel is currently resident dancer at Newcastle's Boulevard cabaret venue and has been dancing since she was 3 years old. At 18 she went to train at the prestigious college, Laine Theatre Arts. While there she was chosen to perform with Kerry Ellis at the London Palladium, played the lead role of Cassie in the colleges production of 'A Chorus Line' and landed her first job with Qdos pantomimes.

Stephen Halliday
Drama Teacher/Director

Steve is an educational specialist having delivered drama and musical theatre at Newcastle College as well as Primary and Secondary schools for over 15 years. He is a grade 1 teacher, has his teaching qualifications, Enhanced DBS and is a member of the Institute for Learning. Throughout his career Steve has coached some very talented students including Joe McElderry and Perrie Edwards from Little Mix, teaching acting and musical theatre to them both.
