Children thrive on the challenge of martial arts training! By the age of 3, children are ready to experience an introduction to the teachings and benefits or Martial Arts. Our classes are specially designed to help younger children gain a solid grounding in the benefits of martial arts in a safe and responsible environment. We help our young students develop a passion for physical activity that should help keep them fit and active throughout their lifetime, as well as instilling a sense of order and discipline from a young age.
I began my martial arts training over 10 years ago and it only began because I refused to just sit and watch whilst my son took part. Ever since then I have been hooked - it’s an excellent way to get fit, stay mobile, be safe and learn something new about yourself. It’s a great discipline for young people to learn, picking up lots of practical people and life skills along the way. I’ve seen first hand the difference made in the students I’ve trained with along the years and watched them grow in confidence and self esteem.
Hi. I started martial arts over 11 years ago, learning Shukokai Karate under Sensei Mark Basnett, where I gained my black belt. I started at Family Martial Arts, learning Tang Soo Do, over 8 years ago. It is very similar to Karate and I am now a third Dan in this martial art too. I love martial arts - it’s a great way to stay fit and it is a really fun activity to do with your friends and family. Don’t worry if you don’t know anyone in the class when you start - you’ll soon have lots of new friends as the people are so friendly.
I started training in Tang Soo Do in 2011 at the age of 38 and I joined Family Martial Arts with my daughter. We both joined as my husband and son were already training and it was a good opportunity for us all to do an activity together as a family. I never thought martial arts would be for me until I tried it! In the last 7 years my fitness has improved, I have lost weight and made some great friends. I am really proud that Brett, Harris and Abbie and I have been awarded Ee (second) Dan and that we did it together as a family.
