Taekwon-Do is great for physical fitness, mental strength and self defence. Juniors classes are for children aged 7+, and our instructors are qualified, DBS-checked and trained in first aid and safeguarding. Lessons are disciplined but always fun, and beginners are always welcome
I started my Taekwon-Do journey in 2001. I chose Taekwon-Do by chance, after meeting the instructor in the gym and I have been hooked ever since. I have competed successfully, winning many medals in Local and National events. However now at competitions you will find me umpiring or refereeing instead of competing. I achieved my 4th Dan in May 2012. I am a fully qualified Instructor (passing with a Credit) in 2008 and have been passing on my knowledge ever since and I have helped train and coach numerous local, national and international competitors.
I was introduced to Taekwon-Do when I needed a sports activity to balance the stresses of modern life, and I immediately loved the physical aspects of sparring and fitness training. As I have progressed, I am increasingly drawn to the “Do” – the “Way” of the foot and the fist. The Tenets of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit are very important to me, and help me to always keep perspective on whatever life can throw at me.
My first introduction to Taekwon-Do was as a parent. My children had abundant energy, and Taekwon-Do was an ideal way of focusing that energy on something positive, while also giving them valuable self-defence and life skills. Initially, I was unsure whether my poor fitness levels would allow me to progress very far, but I needn’t have worried – I soon got a lot fitter! With a lot of work and determination, I achieved my 1st Dan in 2013, and my 2nd Dan (with credit) in 2018. I qualified as an assistant instructor in 2019.
