Description

This is your chance to see what life was like for the crowded families in the village

As business prospered and mill extended, more cottages were needed to house the increasing workforce.

13 Oak Cottages was not part of the modernisation of the village in the 1960s and is open for visitors as The Worker's Cottage.

The ground floor features a parlour at the front, and a scullery at the back. At the rear of the property is a stone flagged yard with the privy, coal storage, ash pit and water cistern, and on the first floor are two bedrooms.

Please note that tours of the cottage and the Village hub are facilitated by a dedicated team of volunteers, but are subject to change. Please ask at Visitor Reception for more details and to book on to a tour.

Admission charges apply. Free entry for National Trust members.
