Mother Matters meets every Friday from 10:30am at St Hilda's Church (who have very kindly let us use their space). The group is facilitated by myself, Kim Sterling-Haig and Sarah Kerridge who are also local mums and doulas. Join in the conversation and get support all whilst enjoying a cuppa and a slice of cake. There are toys and a safe space for babies and older siblings so you can relax and be comfortable. The group is not-for-profit for everyone to attend with a suggested donation of £3 - £5 which goes towards the running costs.
I was drawn to supporting women as a postnatal doula because I had two very different experiences after the birth of of my own babies and I know first hand the difference that good postnatal support can make. I am also an experienced antenatal teacher who has supported over 400 parents to prepare for birth and early parenthood. And I am a breastfeeding peer supporter where I provide a listening ear and support women with the information they need to overcome feeding challenges. These experiences combine to form a wealth of experience with new mothers, babies and families.
