About Heigh-Ho Music, Chelsea Catchy sounds and up beat tunes for making Monkey Music! TIME TO SING Music and language have many things in common and Monkey’s action songs have been especially written to support your child's early language development. Colourful props aid visual memory while repeated actions reinforce a feel for the ‘steady beat’. TIME TO MOVE Moving and dancing freely around the room with Monkey encourages your child to express the music that they hear with their whole bodies. Exercising to music forms and strengthens neural bridges that are necessary for later learning. TIME TO PLAY The Monkey Music Band offers your child the opportunity to practise fine motor skills using hand held percussion instruments. Band members need a certain amount of self awareness and self discipline which comes with regular band practice! TIME TO SLEEP Toddlers need active time for exercise and quieter times for calmer activities. Listening is a critical life skill which we nurture with relaxing and soothing music to conclude each Monkey Music class experience. Our Monkey Music Heigh-Ho classes are stage two for toddlers from 12 months.
In our 2&3 years classes we aim to build on the ever increasing attention span of your child and focus on dividing the class into structured sections which incorporate action and movement as well as sitting down time, having fun watching and learning during our themed prop songs and instrument section. We encourage 'pleases' and 'thank you's' as well as sharing and taking turns. We are delighted to say that we get Mummies commenting all the time on how well Monkey Music has prepared their little one for Nursery School whilst they are having lots of fun in the process!

At around three months your baby will be reaching out for objects and picking things up in their hands – holding them for a few seconds. Crucially, their hands come together at eye level; - the centre of their vision. This is where we show them the instrument chosen for its perfect size and sound. Studies have shown that babies exposed to music classes at an early age go on to do better in English, Maths and Languages - as understanding and predicting rhythms and patterns are the key to future learning.
Why do we suggest that around 3 months is the perfect time to start coming along to Monkey Music with your baby? At birth, your little one's vision is blurry, but they will be able to make out light, shape and movement. By the end of their first month, your baby can make eye contact and focus on objects about 12 inches away. Just far enough to see your face when you are cuddling them! By the time a baby is around 3 months old, they can distinguish between colours and focus on smaller objects further away. Perfect for interacting with all the colourful props and fascinating sounds that we use in our classes! For the first couple of months or so, your baby’s hands will mostly be in a clenched fist, but they will wrap their fingers around an object when placed in the palm of their hand. I was an amazing class we will definitely book full term to come weekly
Jayne is wonderful with the children, always equipped with a huge number of brilliant resources and super fun sessions each week. My daughter has attended Monkey Music since she was 6 months old and she is now almost 4 years and still enjoys her weekly singing, dancing and music making with Jayne!
I have been attending Monkey Music classes for 7 years starting at 3 months with my now 7 year old. Jayne is an amazing teacher and I am sad that my children are now too old for the classes!
