We follow a precocious, self-absorbed little girl Oluwabukola “Bukky”, who finds herself in wildly unfamiliar territory as she time travels. She encounters a band of highly unusual characters who change the course of her destiny. With Bukky we explore a part of Nigerian history, along with its culture: the importance of family bonds, the uplifting music and more!

Let’s celebrate autumn with a creative workshop at the Bibliothèque Quentin Blake! We’re inviting Isabelle Simler, a French author-illustrator, who loves to use pencils to create stories around nature.

In this special event, Isabelle will guide kids (and interested adults) to draw feathers and birds as it is one of her favourite themes and autumn is known to be moulting season. You will use common materials such as pens and pencils, so everything you will learn will be easy to reproduce at home. And if you want, you will be able to leave us your creation of the day so we can hang them in our library to decorate it for the season!

Asterix the Gaul is the first film based on René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo’s famous comic strip series. In the year 50 BC, Gaul is occupied by the romans, almost the whole Gaul. However, the small village of Asterix and his friends still resist the Roman legions with the aid of their druid Getafix’s magic potion. Learning of this potion which gives superhuman strength, a Roman centurion kidnaps the druid to get the secret formula out of him. But worry not, because Asterix and co. Will come to the rescue.

Baby Comptines - French Rhyme Time

Let your kids’ imagination run wild through our fun French storytelling session. Each month we’ll have fun with some kamishibaï (“paper theatre”), a form of Japanese street theatre, and a couple of tales and picture books reading. 

These sessions are a good occasion to develop the sensibility to French language for young learners.

Kamishibaï & French Story Time

Caesar offers the Gauls a deal: if they can perform twelve special tasks successfully, he will hand over the Roman empire to them. If the Gauls fail, they will have to surrender to the Roman Empire. Asterix (fortified by magic potion) is ready to take on the challenge.
