Description

How Does It Feel To Be Loved? Children's Disco is an all-ages daytime disco in central London playing indie pop and soul.

We've held the HDIF Children's disco at the End Of The Road festival since 2011, and they've been lots and lots of fun. We play our usual mixture of indie pop and soul, and the discos are a wonderful opportunity for kids to bop around to Belle & Sebastian, Allo Darlin', Ramones, Pixies and more, and for their parents to bop along with them. It can often be hard to get out to club nights once you become a parent, so these discos are as much a chance for the parents to go out dancing as they are for the kids. We also want to provide an alternative to the many rave-themed kids discos that are on offer in London. If you'd rather dance to your favourite indie pop and Motown songs with your children, then we're the disco for you!

Music will be played at a reasonable level. We'll make sure that the songs aren't played too loud, but if you're worried about volume please do bring along ear defenders for your kids.

Everyone is welcome at our kids discos - children, parents and family friends - but we follow similar rules to Coram's Fields - so no admission for adults unless they are accompanied by a child.

Press reviews:

"If you don't want to hear children's music at a children's disco there is an alternative. How Does It Feel to Be Loved? is an unashamedly indie club night – Belle and Sebastian, The Smiths and Pixies are some of its staples, although pop and soul make an appearance too – that puts on monthly Sunday afternoon shindigs for families. The same music policy applies, with the tunes played at a kiddie-friendly level. Give the youngsters a dose of musical history." - Time Out (April 2018)

"Introduce your teeny-tiny boppers to some proper tunes at the How Does It Feel Children's Disco. From indie darlings like Belle & Sebastian, to the psychedelic soul of The Temptations played at a kid-friendly level, it'll be music to their (and your) ears." - Londonist (April 2018)

"The HDIF Children’s disco has seen wild success at End Of The Road festival for the last seven years and has since started a regular night at The Phoneix in Cavendish Square. Here the kids are treated to a mixture of the indie, pop, and soul of your youth, and the discos are a wonderful opportunity for them to bop around, and for you to bop along with them, reliving the glory days. So get on all the old rave gear (if it still fits), and get your kids down for a boogie at HDIF, it’ll be a night they’ll always remember!" - Boo Roo And Tigger Too (March 2023)
