Description

Stott Park Bobbin Mill was once an extensive working mill that produced millions of wooden bobbins vital to the Lancashire spinning and weaving industries. Today it is the only working bobbin mill left in the Lake District - on this tour you'll discover how English Heritage is able to keep the mill working today.

See behind the scenes for a first-hand look at the maintenance and conservation techniques employed by our technicians and volunteers over the winter period to ensure that the bobbin mill is 'put to bed' and made ready for the next season.

This tour is graded as easy access, however wheelchair access is only to the ground floor of the mill and there may be some uneven surfaces and steep steps.
