Description

Join Sue and Sheila from the East Sussex Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers at Bayham Old Abbey for a fascinating glimpse into the world of woolcraft.

Discover how raw fleece is transformed from fluffy fibres into workable yarn, then woven or knitted into finished textiles. Sue and Sheila will demonstrate parts of their process, sharing their knowledge, stories and passion along the way.

The fleece they use comes mostly from their own sheep: Sheila keeps mainly Wenslydale sheep and Sue has a flock of primitive Shetland sheep. Find out how they care for their flocks and work with natural, sustainable methods to create their yarns.

You’ll also have the chance to see a stunning display of their hand-dyed and handwoven creations, each one completely unique.

Come along, get inspired, and learn how traditional crafts are still used today.
