You can take on the quest every day of the school holidays, and it costs just £2 to take part. This is for each child, whether you’re a member or not, and it’s on top of the ticket price. There’s no need to book the quest, you can pay when you arrive at the site.

Easter Adventure Quest At Audley End House And Gardens

Celebrate Women’s History Month at Wrest Park. Discover the important role women have played in Wrest Park’s history in a temporary display and volunteer-led talks.

The exhibition brings to life the women who made Wrest Park, including Jemima, Marchioness Grey who employed ‘Capability’ Brown to redevelop the gardens and Nan Herbert, the very last of the De Grey family women to live at Wrest Park and who ran the military hospital here in the First World War.

Learn more about the women who left a legacy that every visitor can still enjoy today.

11.30am: The legacy of the ladies of Wrest

Discover the first 400 years of Wrest Park, from Emma de Cauz who brought it into the De Grey family in the 13th Century, through to Amabel the ‘Good Countess’ (for her concern for the poor) in the 17th century. Amabel and her daughter-in-law, Mary Lucas, were responsible for developing the estate.

2pm: Georgian heiress

An introduction to the life and times of Jemima, Marchioness Grey. Jemima wrote many letters during her time at Wrest Park which tell her story and the story of a woman in Georgian society. The talks will bring to life what it was like to live for a woman in the ‘Bridgerton’ era. Jemima was also responsible for bringing in ‘Capability’ Brown to Wrest Park.

Discover the enchanting Little Castle with our staff-led guided tours this winter!

Join us every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 11am and 1pm for an engaging exploration of the castle’s rich history and hidden gems.

Our knowledgeable guides are excited to share captivating stories and insights, ensuring an enriching experience for all visitors.

Additional tours may be offered during the week and on weekends, so keep an eye out for more opportunities to delve into the castle’s fascinating past!

Guided Tours Of Bolsover's Little Castle

Discover an intimate perspective on the history of Osborne through our winter guided tours of the house! 

Join us on selected days from 9 November through to 14 March this winter for an extraordinary journey through time as you step into the grandeur of Osborne, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's beloved royal residence.  

During these special guided tours, you'll have the unique opportunity to delve deep into the stories and secrets of Osborne’s royal household. Uncover the hidden stories of this magnificent estate and gain insights into the roles that were essential for its prosperity. Our knowledgeable staff members, wearing what Thomas Newell, a former footman, and Mrs. Smith, a former housekeeper would have worn whilst they were servants at Osborne, are ready answer any questions you may have. 

Access to the house will be exclusively through guided tours on these days. We highly recommend reserving your spot in advance to secure your preferred time slot, as capacities are limited.

Please select the correct number of tickets based on the size of your party. 

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time to allow time to get to the meeting point. 

If you choose not to select a specific tour time during booking, you'll be assigned to the next available tour upon arrival.

Please note that tours will not be available on our Festive Fun weekends in December, between Christmas Day and New Year, as well as during the February Half Term. The ground floor of the house will be open for free flow access during these dates.

Come to Marble Hill and learn about our trees and the work we've done in regard to trees across the park! Our wonderful guides will lead you around Marble Hill Park, showing you our wonderful collection of trees!

   Meet at the cafe at 1pm.

Start the weekend energised with a spot of Community Yoga amongst the backdrop of Marble Hill and it's surroundings! Community based event, meet on the Oval Lawn (Behind House towards River) at 8am.

Volunteers help us look after Walmer Castle and Gardens, and bring the site to life for our visitors - and we couldn't do it without them!

Whether you're about to apply, or are interested in volunteering and want to know more about how it works, come along for a cup of coffee and chat with our Volunteer Manager.

Our current volunteers will be there to share what they do, and answer any questions you have about what it's like to be a volunteer at Walmer Castle and Gardens.

Join English Heritage falconers to discover the falconry lifestyle and learn about their feathered friends.

Meet a variety of birds of prey at close quarters, enjoy a talk about the history of falconry, learn to handle a bird of prey on the glove, discover the importance of feathers and feet, watch a hunt recreation and enjoy a hawk flying to your fist.

This event has been graded as moderate access as it will involve standing for a few hours.

Members' Event:

Join Blue Badge Guide Emma Fox for a walk through Manchester's long and varied musical history. Explore the music section of the Central Library, the world-class Bridegewater Hall concert venue, the Royal Northern College of Music and various stops along the way as Emma takes you through the centuries and genres of music that have been made in the great city of Manchester.

Tickets for this tour also include entry to the lunchtime concert at the Royal Northern College of Music, which is where the tour will end.

This event is graded as challenging access, as it is a walking tour with few places to stop and sit down, covering over three miles.

With over 20 years' experience in preventive conservation, Sally can show you how to check for signs of moth and insect damage, store and roll textiles and clean and handle items to ensure they are well cared for. This two-hour session will involve looking at historic textiles in Audley End House plus a practical session looking at preventive care.

This event is graded as moderate/challanging access as there are numerous stairs to access various areas.

The 10.30am session is now sold out.
