Join us at Corbridge Roman Town to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the discovery of the Corbridge Hoard.
Meet Evocatus (a retired veteran) Rufus Aelius Victor to find out how Roman soldiers wore, used and cared for their plate armour suits (lorica segmentata). Try on a lorica suit and be drilled by Rufus as he would train his recruits. See the equipment a soldier had, from weapons, to cooking pots. Life on the frontier wasn’t all about fighting!
And go behind the scenes with our store tours. Dr Frances McIntosh, Collections Curator, will lead tours into the store to see parts of the Corbridge Hoard not on display, including pieces which have recently returned from the British Museum Legion Exhibition. Each tour will last 30 minutes, running at 10.30, 12 noon, 2pm, 3pm each day. Spaces will be limited, so please book your tour ahead of your visit by ringing the site on 01434 632 349.
