Description

For generations, the parish church at Bolsover was the burial place for many of the renowned Cavendish family. Join tour guide Ian Morgan to explore the Cavendish tomb, a magnificent memorial to Sir Charles Cavendish, ancestor of our present king, and the nearby resting place of Huntingdon Smithson, an architect of the castle.

Outside rest many local characters such as Captain Francis Hallowes (who never was a captain) and Thomas Hinde, a young watchmaker whose tombstone boasts a humorous epitaph.

This tour has been graded as moderate access as some parts of the tour may cover uneven terrain and involve climbing stairs.
