Choreographed by Phoenix Dance Theatre’s Artistic Director, Marcus Jarrell Willis, this new production set in 1950s Paris brings James Baldwin’s profound narrative to life through the powerful medium of dance.

In celebration of what would have been Baldwin’s centennial year, Marcus Jarrell Willis masterfully re-imagines the iconic novel, delving into themes of love, sexuality, guilt, and self-acceptance—subjects that continue to resonate deeply today.

Inside Giovanni’s Room is not just a dance production; it is a poignant exploration of identity and the human experience, capturing the essence of Baldwin’s timeless writing.
