The impact of the many artists and craftspeople who came to live and work in Ditchling from the beginning of the 20th century onwards established this village as one of the most important places for the visual arts and crafts in Britain. The museum exist to tell that story as well as showing contemporary makers in temporary exhibitions. We also run a thriving learning programme of events for all ages.

The children’s activity satchels are so engaging. It really opened up the museum’s collection for my daughter and allowed us to spend a long time discovering aspects of the works that you never would normally. She really enjoyed it and it being a free activity is a welcome bonus.
