Postnatal yoga is a wonderful opportunity to let your body recover, rest and relax after giving birth. This class starts right back at the beginning by re-aligning your body and using the breath to close it back together, re-knit your muscles and start to very gently re-build strength.
It offers the opportunity for you to switch off and focus on yourself and areas that very often need care and attention after having a baby. There is a large emphasis on using the breath to heal, improving pelvic floor function, easing muscle aches and pains and gently bringing stability back to the abdomen and core.
This class is suitable from 6 weeks after birth depending on your recovery. It is ideal to let any bruising or swelling subside and for any stitches to heal before practicing although it is possible to start earlier with a 1-2-1 session.
Although postnatal classes are aimed at the mother, your baby is very much part of this class. Everything can be done whilst holding or feeding your baby and it is a baby-led atmosphere, adapted to suit their needs while you take part.
