Aida Diop
Dance Teacher

Born in Ouakam village; home of the Lebou ethnic group of Senegal, Aida has an infectious energy with an enigmatic personality and freely shares her knowledge, skill and joviality without holding back. Aida added sabar and djembe dancing to her repertoire, and went on to join Ballets Africain de Sanghoma - which lead to a tour with Daara-j in Senegal and Abroad. Since she arrived in the UK, Aida has carries out workshops in various schools and venues and hold regular weekly classes in London.

Dundun Drum Teacher

Dembis Thioung is a rare and mesmerizing master of the dunduns -the melodic and hypnotic West African bass drums. Dembis came to the UK in 2010, whilst on tour with Ballet Daradji. Since then he has been in high demand, both as a performer and a teacher. He currently works for a number of companies, including Yaye Dib Sabar Dance Company, where he performs in company shows in world- famous festivals such as Womad. He teaches drumming to adults and to children in schools in partnership with Landing Mane. He is also a core member of Irineu Nogueira’s Afro-Brazilian Dance Company ABEIE.
