Danceworks Ballet Academy

18 - 30 months, 30 months - 4 years + other ages

The Academy offers a unique non-exam based curriculum with inspiring teachers dedicated in providing excellent classical ballet training to students of all ages and abilities, in after-school and weekend classes. Classes start from 18 months with our pre-school ballet programme. Our ballet technique and contemporary classes are available from ages 4 years to pre-professional level. We also offer the opportunity to join our Youth Ballet Company, performing 2 theatrical productions each year.

Meet the Team

Celine Barreau
Instructor

Céline started her dance training at the age of 8 with Kim White at Ballet Riviera in Vevey, Switzerland. She performed lead roles in ballets such as Peter Pan, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and The Nutcracker. In 2012, she went on to study Neuroscience and Behaviour (BA) at Mount Holyoke College where she continued to perform in ballet, contemporary ballet, and contemporary pieces in the Five College Dance Department. Currently, Céline is working at Danceworks Ballet Academy in London as a teacher, assistant director, and guest choreographer.

Christina Mittelmaier
Instructor

Christina started her ballet training at the age of six. She was awarded a national scholarship to join Ballet Austin and taught for the Academy of Ballet Austin and performed with the Ballet Austin Company, in such well known classics as Don Quixote, Nutcracker, Swan Lake and others. Christina's varied experience as a dancer, teacher and coach plays a major part in her teaching, making her classes particularly dynamic and inspiring. While artistic expression is a main feature in her approach, she always makes correct technique a priority to help students dance injury-free.

Julie Alltree
Instructor

Julie trained in Yorkshire with Dorothy Stevens MBE. She was awarded a scholarship with the British Ballet Organization and trained with John Field and Anne Heaton. She has had an extensive career spanning twenty years on stage and television. She has also covered a wide range of styles from Jazz, American Tap and Irish dance. Julie returned to the British Ballet Organization to train as a teacher and has been teaching for seven years. She cares deeply about her students’ learning and strives to help them achieve their full potential while nurturing a love of dance.

Kim White
Academy Founding Artistic Director

Prior to her work in education, Kim White was a professional ballet dancer in New York and the first American chosen to dance at the prestigious Prix de Lausanne. She has spent over 30 years developing a dance curriculum that trains young children to achieve excellence. She is the Founding Artistic Director of Los Angeles Youth Ballet, Ballet Romand, Ballet Riviera and the Vevey Youth Ballet School. A premier teacher and coach, Kim studied under the direction of greats such as George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Alexandra Danilova, Melissa Hayden, Oleg and Mireille Briansky.

Philipp Bolloev
Instructor

Philipp Bolloev was born in Moscow and has studied at the legendary Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow. In 2005, he was offered a full scholarship at the prestigious Rock School for Dance Education. He participated in the Youth America Grand Prix Competition, where he was one of the top ten classical men in the YAGP New York City Finals. Following his performances he received full scholarships for the San Francisco Ballet School, the Timothy M. Draper Center for Dance Education in Rochester, New York and Ellison Ballet in New York City.

Yolandi Moreira
Instructor

South African born Yolandi started her ballet training at age four. From age twelve she was taught by Martin Schonberg’s Ballet Theatre Afrikan Academy of Dance and attended the National School of the Arts from 1996-1999. She completed her schooling at Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto. Since 2012 Yolandi has focused on preparing students for entry into vocational schools, and putting them through their dance examinations in the Cecchetti method as well as coaching in the RAD method and rehabilitating injured dancers with intense body conditioning and floor barre training.
