From Toddlers to teens (and adults), DaCapo provide music tuition based on an award winning curriculum. We specialise in musicianship and instrumental teaching based on the principles of Kodaly and Dalcroze. We have a Saturday Morning Family Music centre in North London and Early Years classes in Suffolk and St Albans. We provide classroom music for schools where music is a highly valued part of the curriculum. DaCapo also run training courses for class teachers and musicians.
Music, Dance & Drama
DaCapo Music Foundation has not run any activities for over two months. We’re trying to get an up-to-date schedule.
Jane is the musical founder of DaCapo Music. She trained as a cellist and then began her teaching career within the famous Tower Hamlets Strings Project and here she came into contact with both the Kodaly and Dalcroze methods and worked with some of the most inspirational teachers of the time. Jane has been a lecturer at Trinity College of Music, St Albans High School, and was the eurythmics tutor for National Children's Orchestra for many years. She also has a number of private students in St Albans. Jane received the Editor’s Award at The Music Teacher of the Year Awards 2014.
There will be a number of DaCapo teachers leading the summer school. You can read their bios here:http://www.dacapo.co.uk/spage-about_us-teachers.html
Mike is the author of three books on Maypole, Morris and Country Dance (with more to follow) and runs the long established Thursday night classes on Country Dancing for the English Folk Dance and Song Society at Cecil Sharp House. He has been a professional musician and dance teacher for 30 years and set up the educational charity Tradamis to promote traditional dance and music in 2003. Dancing and playing since his teens he hopes to pass on his love of it all to as many people as possible
Will was a Chorister in Westminster Cathedral Choir, where a vast repertoire and a busy concert schedule gave him a great foundation in musical understanding. He was a music scholar to his senior school and then graduated from Glasgow University (MA Mus, 2009). Will teaches brass, classroom music and leads choirs, and takes an active role in the London music scene. He is Musical Director for Goblin Theatre Company. DaCapo inspires his approach to teaching and he now teaches 350+ children every week in 3 separate schools.
