Perfect for your little movers, the 4 - 7 year olds class at CCDS is a super fun 60 minute class that covers four styles of dance: tap, ballet, contemporary modern jazz, and freestyle.
A bit about the styles:
TAP - an exciting, percussive dance style that builds rhythm through dynamic footwork and movements. My personal favourite, it's also very popular with the kids who love making sounds with their shiny shoes! A guaranteed crowd pleaser.
BALLET - a super way to explore more delicate movement through bends, points, skips, jumps, and spins. There's no missing the characters we turn ourselves into too! Who doesn't love being a clown, cat, or wizard to some twinkly music?
CMJ - all about power, contemporary modern jazz is a newly re-worked IDTA dance style that lets kids have fun with moving with power and excitement. Halfway between ballet and freestyle, it's a super way to work precision into our energetic dance dreams.
FREESTYLE - a whole lot of fun. A good boogie to some super songs, learning dances together with a smile on our face! More free than the other styles, freestyle (also known as freestyle disco) lets the kids find their own way of moving and performing within the dances I teach them more than any other style. What a way to end the class!
Students in this class learn the basics of each style through exciting exercises and dances. They all learn every all of the styles above. In time, we will start to learn elements of the IDTA exam syllabus, meaning the children may be able to take their first exams in these styles. Along with the rest of the school, we will sometimes also work towards performances such as awards presentation evenings, open days for their families and even shows on the big stage!
For now, the age range of this group spans four years, but with growing class sizes I'm aiming to split this class in two (4-6 and 6-8 years), so keep an eye out for that.
