This event would have been so much better if the volume was turned down. Its an event for babies and carers but it's run at the same volume as regular comedy gigs. The comedians were good and the and the venue and staff were great but as mentioned the volume really needs to be turned down.

This is a novel idea which seemed like a really fun way to spend an afternoon with friends doing something unbaby related. However in order for it to work I feel like the setting needed to adjust slightly from the standard stand up comedy environment. Having rows of wooden chairs crammed in next to each other with play mats on the floor at the feet of parents was never really going to make for comfortable viewing. Trying to breast feed crammed in next to another woman breast feeding with your baby kicking their baby in the head was comic. But not in the way I wanted to experience comedy. Also trying to see what was going on at the front whilst follow a narrative and give the feedback the comedian needed for the right vibe in the room, was tough when it was so difficult to hear through the crying of babies at the back - no mic for the comedian to talk above the din. I would suggest doing away with chairs and inserting some floor cushions. Put the mats on the floor in front of mums so babies have somewhere to roll around and chill. Open up the room so we can see the comedians and they become the focal point. Just a suggestion I have seen work in other mum and baby related gatherings. Probably wouldn’t come again until the beer garden is open.
