Bath Swim Therapy offer swimming and hydrotherapy for youngsters with disabilities and special needs. The lessons are provided not only to teach the children to learn to swim, but also for parents/carers to learn to assist their own children in the water so that they are able to take them swimming on their own. Sessions are led by a specialist physiotherapist with expertise in teaching disabled people to learn to swim. There are sessions for pre-schoolers, school-age children, and holiday sessions for all ages. Teaching is done through games & activities, and without flotation devices, so the children learn to adjust to the water and control their balance until they are able to move around safely in the water, and ultimately swim confidently and independently. The emphasis in the sessions is always on enjoyment of the water, encouraging progress not pressure.
