Come along to this Make it to design and make a futuristic necklace or bracelet inspired by nature and the Schiaparelli exhibition.
Led by artist Cadi Williams, explore patterns within algae forms to shape your accessory. Get inspired by diatoms, which are algae that help create the air we breathe every day, that are full of beautiful shapes and patterns. Design your accessory thinking about symmetry and colour. Then get making! To make your accessory, you’ll work with felt and paper shapes and decorate them with biomaterials which are natural materials made from things like plants and fungi such as leather made from fruit waste! Decorate your necklace or bracelet with patterns using green spirulina dye- algae! You can also use bioplastics and tissue paper or use embroidery thread for decoration.
You'll find out about biomaterials and Cadi's work as a designer. You'll pick up some new skills and a new hobby to carry on at home as a family.
Your family will come away with knowledge about designing accessories inspired by nature. You'll also go home with your own handmade accessory to show off to all your friends.
Please come in clothes you’re happy to get a bit messy!
Let your child take the lead but work together as a family to explore designing and creating.
No previous experience is necessary, just come along and join in!
All materials will be provided, all sourced sustainably.
