Braw Bairns returns to the Mitchell Library on the 25th January. Come along, coorie in and celebrate the Baird’s birthday at our fun Scots language family day. Our packed programme of free events features traditional stories, songs and crafts for weans of all ages.
For our sixth session we are pleased to welcome Scots poet, writer and translator Thomas Clark. In this fun interactive session Scots Bairn’s Book o the Year Winner Thomas will share how he overcame the pure dry boke to write doon the scunnersome events endured by the Baudelaire bairns!
In ‘The Boggin Beginnin’ his Scots translation of the first book in Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, Thomas shares the bowfin, dreidsome story aboot three awfie unlucky weans, which is sure to delight Scots readers, new and old!
Thomas has performed at schools, festivals and literary events across the country, from the Aye Write Book Festival to the StAnza Poetry Festival, from Sky Sports to the BBC. He is experienced in supporting children and young people in discovering and expressing themselves through the use of Scots, and in developing confidence through the exploration of language.
