Sussex, with its wonderful coastline, charming villages and picturesque countryside is so close to London you could touch it. Ok maybe not, but it’s only an hour or two away by car or train.
There’s plenty of things to see and do, but first, you must choose where you shall stay! For this is of the utmost importance! Let the browsing commence! Or you could choose a hotel from our following picks…
One of England’s oldest coaching houses, The Spread Eagle Hotel is located in the charming Sussex town of Midhurst. Hotel features include beautiful historic rooms, an indoor pool, spa, hot tub, and gin bar with courtyard.
If you have young children, rooms can be allocated on the ground floor which makes the whole pushchair farce a non-event. Melt into the chairs beside the inglenook fireplace which adds a real cosy atmosphere.
The menu choice is quite unique and extensive, with children and vegans duly catered for.
Set in an old Victorian building near the sea, The Driftwood features tasteful, contemporary rooms, each with their own unique ‘personality.’
On the ground floor, make time to unwind in the brasserie style restaurant, with an extensive menu. We recommend trying the Thai green curry – delicious!
The hosts are very welcoming, and you can be sure all the finer details are in place. Perfect location if you’re heading to the De La Warr Pavilion for an event.
Owned and run by the Honour family for over 40 years, this 16th Century hotel is situated in the beautiful Sussex countryside, yet not too far from sandy beaches.
Relax in the hotel’s beautiful garden and enjoy a pizza from the wood-fired oven. The food menu is full of home cooked favourites, with plenty of vegan options and an extensive refreshments list.
Take a dip in the small (but perfectly formed) warm indoor pool with jacuzzi and steam room. The Inglenook is in a great location, so heading to all the attractions Bognor Regis has to offer, is a cinch.
Treat yourself (and the family) to a luxury stay at Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa. You deserve it!
Rooms are beautifully decorated with lush fabrics and magnificent artworks, so it’s possibly not the best option for toddlers! Book into one of the hotel’s 3-4 bedroom houses for a truly special stay.
Flat screen TV and free Wi-Fi are standard, offering a home away from home. But, you won’t be staying in for long…because the hotel offers a range of activities, 30 acres of parkland and of course, spa treatments, including the wonderful hot stones massage. Then blow up that unicorn and flamingo and head to the pool.
A quick drive away is Climping beach and numerous other, easy to reach destinations.
If you’re all about that base, no frills, then Ibis Brighton maybe more to your liking. Set right in the heart of the city, the hotel offers soundproofed rooms with a comfortable double bed and pull-out sofa in the family room.
The lack of a fridge could be an issue, but there are snacks and drinks available in the restaurant, as well as a full menu and hearty breakfasts.
The beating city centre is outside your door and the beach, pier and Sea Life Centre, a short walk away.
Get your stripey beach costume packed and throw the picnic blanket in the boot, you’re going to Sussex! Gelato ahoy!
