Family Friendly Festival Guide for Summer

17 July 2023

The summer months are a great time to get out and about with the family. There are a host of different festivals on offer up and down the country, so there's bound to be something to suit every taste. To help you plan your summer, we've put together a guide to some of the best festivals for families in the UK.

Glastonbury

Glastonbury may be more famous for its mud than its family-friendly credentials, but don't let that put you off – there's a lot on offer for children. The Kidzfield boasts a host of activities, plus there are theatre and circus tents with a wide variety of shows. There's also a designated campsite for families with young children so you can be sure of a good night's sleep. Children under 12 go free to Glastonbury, making it a great option if you're on a budget.

Camp Bestival

Camp Bestival is renowned for its family-friendly atmosphere, and there's plenty on offer for kids of all ages. Little ones can enjoy face painting, arts and crafts, and storytelling, while older children can play the arcade games or participate in the many fun workshops. Favourite children’s characters will be in attendance, along with familiar names like Cbeebies bedtime stories. For adults, there's an eclectic mix of music on offer and comedy, cabaret, and literary events, and there are childcare options available on site.

Latitude Festival

If you're looking for something a little different, Latitude Festival might be just what you're after. The festival takes place in Henham Park, Suffolk, and offers a unique mix of music, comedy, theatre, dance, and poetry. The Kids' Area features circus skills workshops, science experiments, storytime sessions, and more. With a dedicated teen area and family camping, Latitude is the perfect festival for all ages. And when it comes to accommodation, there are plenty of options to choose from – from cosy yurts to luxury bell tents.

Just So Festival

Just So Festival is one of the best family-friendly festivals in the UK, and you can see why as soon as you arrive. The award-winning festival takes place on the grounds of Rode Hall Estate, Cheshire, and is packed with activities for all ages. There’s live music and lots of entertainment, including theatre, circus and storytelling. Other exciting activities on offer include survival skills, learning about nature, sports day themed games, arts and crafts and dedicated sessions for under 5s. For all these reasons and more, Just So Festival is the perfect choice for families looking for a fun-filled summer adventure.

The Big Feastival

The Big Feastival is a food and music festival like no other. Set on the stunning grounds of Alex James' farm in Oxfordshire, the festival offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy some of the best food and drink the UK offers, along with sets from bands and a host of other activities. It's a great starting point if you want to take your kids to a festival for the first time – you can either camp or go for the day. Children’s activities and entertainment include circus skills, science experiments, discos, theatre, farm animals, appearances by favourite TV characters and finally, bedtime stories.

With so many great family-friendly festivals to choose from, you're spoilt for choice when it comes to planning your summer. Whether you're looking for music, food, or family fun, there's sure to be a festival that's perfect for you.
