More than ever, there are festivals aimed at kids springing up all over the UK. It is like festival providers have suddenly realised that there has been a gap in the market to date and are rushing to fill it, which is great news for parents.
Festivals aimed at kids will provide excellent and family friendly facilities and environments and they will have next level entertainment available to keep the kids amused and happy. The aim is to provide a fun experience and most of the dedicated festivals excel at doing just that. We have listed a few below and what they offer.
This festival, fronted by Bear Grylls, the Chief Scout of the scouting movement and TV personality, is one of the most child-friendly and welcoming you are likely to find. In keeping with his position in the scouting movement, there are many activities for children to try their hand at including archery, axe throwing, a bubble show and even a children’s costume competition. A fabulous family day out on the Devonshire coast.
This is a family arts festival and is explicitly aimed at families with children. It is a wonderland of different experiences for the children and the adults alike and creates a unique family bonding experience. As well as wonderful music, there is so much to amuse and delight the children that it is hard to list. There are professional storytellers, wandering circus acts, campfire songs, poetry workshops, origami classes, magic lanterns and dance workshops. This is one festival that must be seen to be believed.
If your child is absolutely obsessed with fairies, this is the festival to take them to. Many adults will cosplay as fairies and take time to interact with and entertain the children. There is face painting and folk music from top bands in that genre from across Europe and beyond. There are also stalls selling everything you can imagine relating to fairies from art prints to postcards, to mugs and even fairy wings and outfits. If you don’t like glitter, this may not be the festival for you.
Held at Cheltenham Racecourse, the Wychwood Festival is consistently nominated for Best Family Festival awards and it is easy to understand why. Spend five minutes standing still and you will see children laughing and carefree, chasing bubbles across the open spaces, dance and music workshops, and circus skills. A safe and relaxed festival to enjoy with all the family, with wonderful music as well, over 100 acts will be playing for your enjoyment.
Spread over three diverse areas of Henham Park in Suffolk, the Latitude Festival is a supremely family-friendly event. There is a stunning kids area with fire shows, pizza making, science experiments and traditional woodland crafts. There is also a dedicated teens area so that they aren’t saddled with spending all of their time with the younger kids and they can take part in music, fashion and technology workshops.
