Top Glamping Sites for Families

17 December 2022

Glamorous camping, or “glamping” for short, is a relatively new type of camping which generally involves self-contained dwellings or “pods” that are well insulated against the cold and frequently heated with wood burning stoves and the like. They are a good middle ground between traditional camping under canvas and hotels, and they are frequently located in areas of outstanding natural beauty.

We have compiled a list of the best glamping sites for families in the UK and you can read our top five choices below. We have examined ratings on various tourism websites, looked at location and facilities on offer and also at value for money.

Park Hall Glamping Pods, Mapperley

“Plush” is the word we would use to describe these highly-rated glamping pods, located near Nottingham. They have all the regular amenities expected from glamping locations as well as an excellent secluded location and an individual hot tub per pod. All of the pods are spacious and well laid-out, maximising the space available and making for a very pleasant family escape.

Cotswolds Camping at Holycombe

Multiple different options exist for glamping at this location and this versatility is bound to appeal to families, with a Yurt, some tents, an Airstream caravan, a Dutch-style cabin and an exquisite antique Romany caravan available to choose from. All of these options have cosy beds, rugs and all of the facilities that you would expect for some serious glamping fun. There is also a barbeque available on-site and there are some gorgeous hiking trails nearby for active families.

Camp Kátur Glamping, North Yorkshire

Set in 250 acres of beautiful grounds, this glamping site offers peaceful stays in lovely accommodation which includes bungalows and private tents. Each residence has its own free wifi and they all have comfortable outdoor furniture for weary families to rest comfortably in the evenings, or enjoy a quiet start to the morning. There is also an eco spa on-site which offers access to hot tubs, massages and the like. Board games are also available to borrow.

Hoots Treehouse, East Sussex

It’s not every day you get the chance to stay in an actual treehouse for a couple of days and the kids will love the chance to branch out into this unique natural glamping experience. The experience is made extra magical because the children get to sleep in their own little private loft area, reachable by a ladder. This is obviously for slightly older children only. Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, this is a glamping opportunity not to be missed.

Muiredge Glamping, Perthshire

Set on the edge of an area that has been dedicated to rewilding for the past 20 years, Muiredge Glamping in rural Perthshire is the very epitome of idyllic. There are only 8 places to stay on-site, 6 bell tents, a converted railway carriage and a shepherd’s hut. Each tent is at least 10 metres from the next and the hut and railway carriage are further apart again. Each accommodation is fully furnished and solar power is used throughout. The whole family will love this place.
