Kids love farms! So, when you’re exploring places to visit during school holidays and weekends, what could be more exciting to a child than visiting a real-life farm?
How about a real-life farm with a tractor ride?
The number of recreational and working farms open to the public with tractor rides is quite mind-boggling!
Luckily, we are here to research some of the best farms for you so that you can spend your time organising your kids.
Smithills is a family-run working dairy farm and visitor attraction, choc-full of exciting animals and activities.
The Tractor-Trailer ride is a star attraction! A HUGE John Deere tractor pulls the trailer through fields of animals to the top of the hill where you can enjoy the view over Manchester while hand-feeding the donkeys.
The slow, bumpy tractor ride makes for a truly authentic tractor experience that the kids will love!
In the heart of beautiful Dorset, Farmer Palmers Farm Park is all about the animals! There is lots to do for everyone, from cuddling guinea pigs in the barn, hand-feeding goats and deer, racing pigs, or visiting the outdoor animals' pens.
And what would a farm be without a TRACTOR! Full of exciting bumps and wobbles along the way, jump on the next Tractor-Trailer Ride for some bouncy, bumpy fun!
Plan ahead with a quick look at the Farmer Palmer ‘Virtual Tractor Ride’ on YouTube (link available on the website).
Based in West Devon, War Horse Valley has a historical focus and is home to a fabulous museum. Famous children’s author, Michael Morpurgo, features in an exhibit based on his best-selling book, ‘War Horse,’ which explores the role of horses in the First World War.
Visit the animals and walk the nature trail before heading to the star attraction: a 35-minute Tractor-Trailer ride across the fields before stopping outside the Tea Room. Who can resist a Devonshire cream tea before heading home?
Another Dorset treasure, the multi-award-winning Heavy Horse Farm Park welcomes you to one of the last farms of its kind in the UK.
The farm is home to over 20 horses, many rescued and rehomed, and a host of other farmyard friends keen to make your acquaintance!
The farm has a packed timetable for visitors that will keep the kids - and grown-ups - out of mischief as they keep up with the very busy day!
Tractor-Trailer rides are an absolute must; also available are rather bumpier Tractor-Bunker rides. Or choose to ride with a pony and carriage if you prefer.
Guess what? Tractor-Trailer rides are free at Hall Hill Farm in County Durham! Jump onto one of the many tours available throughout the day, travel the farm, and see the Highland cattle, black and white Jacob sheep, and Alpacas along the way. The twisty, turning Barrel Train is also available for fun rides during your visit.
Outdoor adventure play, feeding the animals, baby chicks, and cuddly rabbits will fill your children’s day with so much fun they’ll be talking about it for weeks!
Our list isn’t exhaustive. There are lots more great farm parks out there, but hopefully, our small selection has given you a taste of the farm adventures that await you!
