Top 5 Badminton Clubs in the UK

23 November 2023

If you’re keen for your kids to play badminton more regularly, finding a club for them to attend is a great idea. This way, they can learn to play from experienced teachers, meet new people and maybe even enter competitions.

Whether you’re happy for your kids to dabble and have fun, or if you want something a little more structured, there is something for everybody. Most cities will have a selection of badminton clubs you could take your children to, and most large towns should have at least one venue providing lessons for young players. But here are the top 5 badminton clubs and why they receive this status.

Woodford Park Leisure Centre, Reading

Woodford Park Leisure Centre provides badminton for adults and children. The sessions are super fun and friendly and led by professionally trained coaches. They have excellent facilities and take children aged 5 to develop their racket skills. Classes run once a week during term time, but for family fun during the holidays, they run cheap activities where all the family can join in.

National Badminton Centre, Milton Keynes

If you’re very serious about badminton and want your child to progress, this may be the place for you. They have world-class facilities and a range of courses for children from 5 through to adulthood. Although this club is serious about the sport, classes are fun, often to music and suitable for all stages and abilities. They also make sure children have the chance to socialise with their teammates.

Kingsdown Leisure Centre, Bristol

Kingsdown Leisure Centre in Bristol is a place with a lot going on. They split badminton classes into two age brackets; 7-11 years and 12-15 years. All lessons are taken by a Badminton England-qualified level 2 coach. Classes run during term time multiple times a week and provide an inclusive, engaging programme to teach children fundamental badminton skills and help them progress to a high standard.

Thornedon Community Badminton Club, Hampshire

This community club is a fantastic example of a local area finding and training local children. They take children from age 8+ of any stage or ability and have weekend sessions throughout the term. It does not cost a lot, and your children may have the opportunity to play in local, friendly tournaments. This club is a great example of one run by the community for the good of the community.

Wimbledon Racquets and Fitness Club

In the heart of London, Wimbledon Racquets and Fitness Club offer tip-top badminton lessons for children from the age of 7 through to adults. The venue is vast, has 7 purpose-built badminton courts, and provides for all abilities from some of the country’s top coaches. This club can cater for almost any need; it’s ok to dabble and have some fun, but they can also boost you to tournaments if you’d like. They are an inclusive club and cater for disabilities too, with wheelchair badminton every weekend.
