Top 5 Entertainers For A Child's Birthday Party

29 August 2023

Trying to decide on the right type of entertainer for your child's birthday party can be a daunting task. There are so many different options out there, and it can take time to know which one will be the hit of the party. We've put together a list of the top 5 to help make your decision a little easier.

When your child’s birthday is coming up, there’s lots to organise: presents, a cake, and their party. Making a party special for a group of kids can be tricky, which is why there are professional entertainers available for you to book. Here’s a run down of the top 5.

Magicians

A magic show is a timeless classic, bringing amazing illusions and tricks into your home or party venue. They’re great at keeping the little ones entertained with their tricks and sleight of hand while also managing to impress the older kids (and adults) with their more complex illusions. Whether they’re pulling rabbits out of hats or strings of handkerchiefs out of their sleeves, you can guarantee they’ll keep the kids enrapt. Magicians often incorporate humour into their show and they tend to be interactive, with audience participation and opportunities to shout “Abracadabra!”

Clowns

Clowns are another long-time favourite when it comes to birthday party entertainment. Their hilarious antics will get even the shyest kids laughing and joining in with the fun. Incorporating jokes, visual comedy and circus skills like juggling, there’s lots to keep the kids entertained. Just be sure to book one that is experienced and good with kids so you don't end up with a group of terrified children. Some children can be scared of clowns, so it's always best to talk to the parents of the party guests beforehand to see if anyone has a clown phobia.

Puppeteers

Young kids are sure to love a traditional puppet show, where puppeteers bring stories to life. The best known puppet show is probably the classic seaside Punch and Judy, but professional puppeteers will have a wide range of characters and shows in their repertoire. The shows are designed to be interactive, much like pantomimes, ideal for little ones who tend to have short attention spans.

Face painters

Face painting is always a hit at birthday parties, especially with younger kids. They love seeing their favourite characters come to life on their own faces. Just make sure you hire someone who is experienced and has a steady hand, so the paint job looks amazing instead of like a 5-year-old did it. The great thing about face painting is that it's not just for the kids - adults can get in on the fun too.

Balloon artists

Balloon artists are another great option for keeping the little ones entertained at your child's birthday party. They can make all sorts of different animals and objects out of balloons, which the kids will love getting to take home with them after the party is over. Just be sure to hire someone experienced and with plenty of balloons on hand, so there's no risk of running out of balloons in the middle of the party.

All the entertainers on this list will be a hit at your child's birthday party. Just be sure to book someone experienced and good with kids, so you can sit back and relax while they take care of the entertainment. And remember to have plenty of balloons on hand, just in case.
