SE19DanceProject’s focus is to help local people in the Crystal Palace/Penge area to access arts and, specifically, dance without the need to travel to central London. We create opportunities for our community to engage in dance as audiences and participants, providing a space to connect with one another.
We work with artists and dance teachers to deliver a programme of participatory projects and regular classes. We welcome everyone to join us, hence we work with children as young as 2 years old, as well as with young people and adults with no age limit.
We are present in our community on various levels: we present work, deliver workshops and partner with other organisations such as Crystal Palace Festival, Crystal Palace Park Trust, Stanley Arts and Upper Norwood Library Hub, to make sure as many people as possible can access dance locally.
Our community’s voices play a vital role in what we create, produce and offer. Both in terms of recognising community needs and in creating work in which those voices can be expressed.
