The Hoop Awards celebrate the people and organisers that go beyond to entertain, educate and inspire your children.
Katie Dick (BA Hons MA Music) is a highly experienced early years music teacher, violinist and mum of 3. She has over 15 years experience teaching music and violin to children and young people in Glasgow and surrounding areas. In 2013 she spotted a gap in the market for children's music classes that were fun and engaging for both children and parents/ carers alike yet didn't compromise on high musical standards or professionalism and set up First Steps to Music offering children's music classes violin and piano lessons.
Tim Philips graduated from Goldsmiths University of London with a first-class degree in music in 2011 specialising in clarinet as well as piano. He is an experienced piano teacher who enjoys teaching younger beginners in a fun and creative way that incorporates Kodaly principals and develops good all round musical skills. He also teaches musicianship at Primary and Nursery Schools in Glasgow.
